Edamame makes an easy and protein-packed tasty snack or appetizer. You can either buy them fresh or frozen, and cook them in a pinch and flavor them to your taste preference.

I always keep frozen edamame stocked in my freezer (you cant taste the difference between fresh and frozen).

Boiling Edamame 

A simple method that only requires a pot and some water. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add enough salt so the water tastes as salty as sea water. Add in-shell edamame and cook until the beans are tender and the edamame floats to the top of the water (about 5 minutes). Drain, rinse with cold water to cool, and season as desired before serving.

Sesame Oil & Chili Paste Edamame

Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 10 ounce frozen edamame
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp soy sauce

Instructions

  • Boil edamame in 6 cups of water with 1 tsp of salt added
  • Add in 10 ounces edamame and boil for ~5 minutes (or until edamame is tender and rises to the top)
  • Heat sesame oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add garlic, season with salt and pepper, to taste and saute for 2 minutes. 
  • Add edamame and saute for 1-2 minutes and mix with chilli paste and soy sauce.
  • Serve as a snack, appetizer or a side to a meal & enjoy!
